Congrats are certainly in order for Elaine Welteroth!
Just last summer we were sharing the news that a then 29-year-old Welteroth had been named editor at Teen Vogue, replacing replacing the publication’s founding editor-in-chief, Amy Astley. Now, Condé Nast has moved her title up to even more boss-status as Editor-in-Chief of Teen Vogue.
Announced this week, Welteroth will now head the expansion of Teen Vogue’s presence through new consumer experiences and products, according to WWD, with the help of co-brand leaders Marie Suter and Phillip Picardi maintaining the titles creative director and digital editorial director, respectively.
Since coming on board as an editor, Teen Vogue has gone through a huge revamp, expanding its consumer base and focus with politically and socially aware issues regarding people of color, women and other marginalized groups.
“Elaine is incredibly in tune with the Teen Vogue audience and has used that unique insight to engage and connect with her readers on a very personal level,” said Anna Wintour, artistic director of Condé Nast and editor in chief of Vogue. “Over the last year, she has demonstrated a fearless leadership in her pursuit to make Teen Vogue the voice of a new generation, and we look forward to all she will accomplish in her expanded role as Teen Vogue’s new editor in chief.”
