If you paid any attention to the film awards season, then you probably heard about I Am Not Your Negro. The documentary, directed by filmmaker Raoul Peck and produced by Rémi Grellety, Hébert Peck and Raoul is based on pioneering writer James Baldwin’s unfinished book, Remember This House. That project was to be about the lives, work and assassinations of three of Baldwin’s fellow activist friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Peck’s documentary, which was nominated for Best Documentary at this year’s Academy Awards, picks up where Baldwin left off, as his manuscript had only 30 completed pages by the time of his death in 1987. It uses archival footage, as well as Baldwin’s own words (and narration by Samuel L. Jackson), to connect “the past of the Civil Rights movement to the present of #BlackLivesMatter.” It is a timely, beautiful piece of work that you can now own on DVD.

We’re doing a giveaway and offering a few copies of the film. Winners will receive a digital download code for I Am Not Your Negro from FandangoNow (the on-demand video service for Fandango — how convenient!), as well as the accompanying I Am Not Your Negro: Companion Edition book.

All you have to do is follow us on Twitter, and in a tweet, share with us your favorite James Baldwin book using the hashtag #MNGiveaway. You will have until Thursday to do so, and on that day, we’ll randomly select winners.
